Naps

Mmmmmmmm naps.....
Naps with Mommy and Daddy are the best.
Naps with Mommy and Daddy when they are scratching my head are the very very best.

Naps with Mommy's Mommy are pretty good too...

Have I mentioned I have two "sisters".  They do NOT like each other.  The DO try to hog the Mommy and the Daddy for nap times.  Just because they are so small, and quiet, they think they can just sit and sleep where ever they want!

Harrumph.

I am Murphy the Healer, but I am not Murphy the great blog writer....I am much too busy with my dinosaur bone...my Daddy's socks....waiting for Mom to come home from work...and keeping any eye and a nose out for any food that may need eating.  Mommy and Daddy would be lost without me there to pick up the bits that fall on the floor, or wash their dishes, or taste each dish...for their health and safety of course....

I am a busy boy....good boy.....busy boy......

This is my best friend Bailey.  He has a lot of clothes.  He thinks he is so special because he gets his hair done...I like my hair the way it is....he is high maintenance.  But he is fun to play with.
He is my best friend, so we go on adventures and talk about the cats behind their backs.  Sometimes we have sleep overs and then we get walkies together at night and in the morning!  Woof!  Walkies are the best!

Bailey does not swim.
I did not swim when I was little.
Maybe when Bailey gets big he will want to swim.
He wears a lot of clothes, so I don't know how that will work.

I love to swim.
I also love to shake and get little of the lake on everyone.  It feels so good!  I want them to feel good too.

Hope you get to swim and shake the lake on your family this summer!
More later!
Woof!

First Snow!!

Very Good Snow - not today :(

Hi!  I am Murphy!  Good Dog!  Very Good Dog!

Today Mom and I went out in the First Snow! I love snow!

Not enough to roll around in but it was cool and wet on my face and the grass was cool and wet on my back!  I love to roll when the grass is cool and wet...Mom is not a big fan.

The wind was blowing through the woods and I could smell all the lovely woods smells, and today was the beginning of some interesting winter smells!  Somebody has been coming to the side door when I am not looking....I smell them!  I can almost see them with my nose.
Poor Mommy....her nose is so tiny...I don't know how she smells anything at all.
She says she likes the way I smell - she is always kissing my nose and sniffing my head.
Silly Mommy - she knows that is not where the best smells are, but that is what she likes to do.

Our First Snow was a little disappointing!  I like big piles and I like to run through the yard in circles when the snow is light and fluffy and inches deep and scoop snow up in my mouth like a shovel.

I also like to dig down deep under the snow and follow my nose to see what I can find down there!  There are always interesting goings on under the snow, if I could just get down far enough, if my nose was juuuuuuust a bit longer.....

I like to catch snow balls when Mommy throws them at me.
I don't like it when she shovels the walk and throws big piles of snow on me!  That is just rude.

I like to pounce on Daddy when he comes out and gets down on all fours with me!
These are the best days!  Best Days!  Woof! Good Dog!!!

Sometimes they bring a tennis ball!  Oh!!!  THOSE are the BEST days! Woof! Woof!
Mommy and Daddy and Snow and Tennis balls!!! Best Days!!!! Woof!
just a little snow, where it doesn't belong

And no cats.  Cats are crazy - Mommy said so.

Last Winter I was with my Mommy
and her Mommy (Mia) and we lived in Louisiana for a long long long long long long time.  There was no snow at all!
Well, maybe once, but I was inside.  Woof.

There were no cats either!  That was good - very good!  Cats are crazy.
I got Mommy all to myself.  I got Mia too!  Lots of bed time, lots of rides in the car and visiting the bird park - lots and lots of good new smells there!

The snow is coming....
I can tell.  Mommy and Daddy have their layers on and special waterproof feet protectors.  Poor Mommy and Daddy have to protect their delicate feet - and they only have two each!  So sad.

I will try to be Good Dog and write more often.
I hope all my friends are having a good winter and have lots of snow to romp in and dig under and scoop up and eat!

End of Summer

I Murphy, am good dog, best boy, sweet baby, best tennis ball finder and Mr. Big Nose.

I have the best Mommy and the best Daddy and the best Mia (granny).  I have two sisters - we will talk about them later.
Here I am riding with some people puppies who came to visit and dangle strings in the water.
Memorial Day with Mom and Friends
My summer has been full of fun boat rides, swimming, romps in the woods
and drives to and from Mia's house.

Me and Bailey cruising - he can not be trusted to stay on board - hence the leash.
Bailey is insecure, I let him get some love from Daddy because he does not have a daddy.

I love my Mia - she is very good about sharing her buttered toast and eggs with me.  She always has enough cat food left in the can, for a snack for me, and she never forgets me when we have pizza.

Mommy knows how to make food in a place called Gard Den.  It is a nice outside place and Bailey and his Mom come and play and make food too.  I am not sure what a toe may toe is but it is not as good as pizza or Daddy toes.

This is Cleo.  Daddy brought her home a few weeks ago.  I don't know why...she does not smell so good...she does not play ball....she does not swim...she does not like to lick Mommy and Daddy....I don't know what she is good for.  Sister Zsa Zsa does not like her AT ALL!
Zsa Zsa in all her plushiness!
Cleo on her first day on the porch - NOT happy to see me.

To be fair, Cleo is a younger, thinner version
of Zsa Zsa.....what was Daddy thinking?
Zsa Zsa Greeting Me on a Sunny Day
I love Mommy and Daddy best so they must know best.
Though I wish they had brought home a tennis ball instead - but don't tell Cleo I said that....I don't trust her with that information.
I am very photogenic.
The days are much cooler now and the leaves on the ground make a satisfying crunch when I thunder through the woods at Mia's house.  I still go in the water on warmer days, and when I have done a bunch of running, and when there is a tennis ball that needs rescuing, and when I am thirsty, and when Mom is taking the boat out...she loves it when I am wet from the lake and come sit on her feet.
Mom calls me Thunder Paws

Me and Mia on a ride.

Rest after a long day of romping and tennis ball retrieving.

Time for my mid morning nap!  See you all soon!

No Party for Me!?

So....here is the thing.  I, Murphy, did not get invited to the wedding of my Mommy's cousin.  I, Murphy, am very good boy...good boy.

I am best at tennis ball retrieving in the lake, and I am best at stick chewing and I am best dish washer there ever was.  But I, Murphy, did not get asked to come to the wedding.

Mommy has not offered me her thoughts on the matter.  She didn't even bring me something from the dinner.  She said I would not like the crab cake, and I thought to myself...hmmm...I might like the crab cake if someone gave me the chance to TRY a crab cake.
humph.

Maggie got a new collar, and a new lead, and a bouquet all her own!

Maggie sitting pretty watching Mom and Dad get married.
Even Blue got a new outfit.
Maggie and Blue await the festivities and the food.
Maggie said the ceremony was long but nice and she wished I had been there.
humph.
She had her own bouquet.

Summer and Cousins

Oh how I love the summer!  I love when Mommy's Mommy (Mia) comes to stay at the lake and I get to visit.

I run in the woods with no leash!  No leash!  No leash!  It is heaven.

I swim in the lake, especially when my uncles throw tennis balls.  I always try to be the first to get the ball, but sometimes one of my furry cousins will get there first and bring it back to their Daddy...but I am always ready for the next one!

Tennis balls are the Holy Grail to Golden Retrievers.  If you did not know that, you better go back to Goldie School.

Sticks are really good too.

I am asking my Mom to post some pictures of my cousins, Blue, Oscar and Maggie. She will get right on it. Stay tuned.

Where is Winter?

Mommy took a picture of me. I think she was really taking a picture of the only snow flake of the year...

Yes, you heard me - no snow....well....not enough.
I wait..I dream...I hope...I wait all year for the fun of snow.
Pout, Pout, Pout.

I have been recovering from a boo-boo. I hurt my knee. I don't know how, but it hurt for a while.
Mom and Dad took good care of me...but would not let me romp, or jump in and out of the truck, or do my usual speed demon run.
They did pony up the cheese when they had to give me pills...I miss the cheese.

Zsa Zsa and I are friends now. As long as she doesn't try to come between me and my Mommy things are good. She knows I have a paper addiction...she has access to counter tops....its a win - win.

Dogs Rule

This is my evil step-sister. She thinks she owns the place.
She sits on my Mom and acts like she owns her too.
I know better.I am the Number One Son.
I am the warm body that lies against her legs every night.
I am the one by her side when nothing else is going right.
I am there to help her clean up the pine cones in the yard.
I am there to lick her scratched knees and bumped elbows.
I am there when she is digging in the garden or painting in the kitchen -
and I NEVER step in her paint or get my nose in her glue.
I am the superior child and she is a dirty no goodnik.
Except when she is willing to swat paper or socks from the top of the chest of drawers,
down to me.
